Scan analytics
What each scan records, how to read the Analytics tab, and how plan retention and scan limits work.
Every scan of a dynamic code is recorded, and the Analytics tab on the code shows totals, unique visitors, and breakdowns. You can view the last 7, 30, or 90 days, limited by how long your plan keeps data.
What does the Analytics tab show?
- Total scans and Unique visitors for the chosen range. Unique visitors are counted from distinct visitor identifiers, so one person scanning twice counts once.
- Top country and top device at a glance.
- Scans over time: a chart of total versus unique scans per day.
- Breakdowns by country, device, operating system, browser, and referrer, showing the top 12 of each. Scans with no known country show as Unknown, and scans with no referrer show as Direct.
- Variant performance when the code runs an A/B test, see routing rules and A/B tests.
Bots are excluded by default, so numbers reflect people.
Which plans include analytics?
Detailed analytics is included from Starter upward. On the Free plan the Analytics tab invites you to upgrade, though each code still keeps a running total of its scans. The dashboard QR page also shows a 30-day scan summary across your workspace on plans with analytics, and a usage meter for plans with a monthly scan limit.
How long is data kept?
The range selector is capped at your plan's retention period: 30 days on Free, 90 on Starter, 365 on Pro, 730 on Business, and unlimited on Enterprise.
What happens when I pass my monthly scan limit?
Your codes never stop redirecting. What changes is the detail we keep:
- On Pro, Business, and Enterprise, detail keeps being recorded past the limit, and extra scans are billed in blocks of 10,000 scans at $8 per started block.
- On Free and Starter, scan detail stops being recorded for the rest of the month once you hit the limit, while the code's total counter keeps counting and visitors are still redirected.
What about link previews?
When a chat app fetches a link to show a preview, we store that event but it does not add to your scan counter or to webhooks, so previews do not inflate your numbers.
How do I get the raw data?
Download scan events as JSON or CSV from the API, with fields such as time, country, region, city, device, OS, browser, referrer host, UTM values, the variant or rule used, and whether it was a bot. See the API reference. You can also receive each scan as a webhook event.
